Explanation to Part III

SECTION A STATEMENT

2. Never have(has) + 主语 + 过去分词 + ...

否定词(半否定词),如 never, not, little, hardly, few, seldom, scarcely, barely等,及否定词短语如no sooner, under no circumstances, on no account 等常放句首,进行强调,语序则要倒装。

短语be (get) used to (doing) sth = be accustomed to (doing) sth: 一直习惯于
used to do...: 过去经常做,曾经

beyond question = without question = past question = out of question:

out of the question:
be open to question:
call into question: 对...
make no question of (about): 对...

turn out (to be): 原来是,最后证明是

as long as = so long as = if = on condition that: 只要,假如
go picnicking = go for a picnic: 去野餐

at the request of sb = at sb’s request:

two more compositions 也可以说two compositions more,其中的 more意思是“另外的,附加的”

be attributed to或 attribute ... to: 归咎于, 把...归因于

SECTION B CONVERSATION

can / could (not) + have done:

above all = most important of all, especially:

beat around the bush = beat about the bush:

... will do: ...

SECTION C NEWS BROADCAST

原文中“irritated(激怒, 恼火)”与A最接近。

21. “do all except (but) ...”

原文中 "three weeks before the deadline(离最后限期还有三周)"是理解本题的关键。答案为A。

Some poor adults do not look for jobs for a variety of personal reasons. / Other poor people look for a job but can’t find one. / Many poor adults never went to high school. / Therefore, when they look for jobs, they have few skills that they can offer.
